Dr. Aref: Staring into the future

Ahmed Binchi

You supervised the AI competition and also hosted a great exhibition for the student's work, in your opinion what made the event such a success and what was the point that you wanted to get across?

Dr. Aref

As an architect and educator specializing in AI and computational design, I believe that the success of our work at the AI competition and exhibition was due to the combination of several factors.

Firstly, the competition criteria were well-defined and allowed for a wide range of innovative approaches.

Secondly, the students were trained well and given access to cutting-edge AI technologies and computational tools, which enabled them to explore new design possibilities. Additionally, the exhibition was well organized and showcased the diversity of ideas and projects that emerged from the competition.

Where the House of Wisdom's role in hosting and supporting the exhibition was instrumental in making it a resounding success.

Finally, the event provided an excellent opportunity for students to network with other professionals in the field, which is crucial for their professional development.

The main point that I wanted to get across was that AI and computational design are transforming the way we approach architecture and design. These technologies have the potential to enhance creativity and innovation, while also improving efficiency and sustainability. As educators, it is our responsibility to equip students with the necessary skills and knowledge to harness these technologies effectively and responsibly.

Based on the work that was showcased what do you think that means for the future of architects?

Dr. Aref

Based on the work showcased in the exhibition, I believe that the future of architects is bright and full of exciting possibilities. The use of AI and computational design is already having a profound impact on the way architects approach design and construction. We are seeing more and more architects using these technologies to optimize building performance, generate complex geometries, and even simulate human behavior in architectural spaces. In the future, I believe that we will see even more innovation and experimentation in this field, as architects continue to push the boundaries of what is possible.

Can you give us a quote relating to the Mosque and park design competition?

Dr. Aref

"Architecture reflects society, and technology shapes its future."
